DIY Immune‑Boosting Tonics: Fire Cider, Elderberry Syrup & Flu‑Fighter Cocoa

When cold winds blow and sniffles start to spread, it’s comforting to have homemade herbal tonics on hand. Traditional remedies like fire cider and elderberry syrup have enjoyed a resurgence thanks to herbal blogs and wellness communities. These tonics use common kitchen herbs and spices to support the immune system and warm the body.

What Makes an Immune Tonic?

Immune tonics combine antimicrobial, warming and nutrient-dense ingredients to help the body fend off infection. The classic fire‑cider recipe published by Mountain Rose Herbs includes apple cider vinegar, garlic, onion, ginger, horseradish, hot peppers, rosemary, turmeric, lemon peel and honey. Elderberry syrup, another folk favorite, relies on the antiviral properties of black elderberries and the soothing sweetness of honey. Flu‑Fighter Hot Cocoa combines elderberry with antioxidant-rich cocoa for a delicious twist.

  • Instructions:
