Catnip

Catnip – 1 oz.
Herbaceous, minty, and slightly sweet, Catnip is a member of the mint family best known for its playful effects on cats. Beyond its feline fame, catnip has also been used traditionally in herbal teas and remedies for its gentle, calming qualities.

Ingredients:
Dried catnip leaves and flowers (Nepeta cataria).

Preparation & Use:

• For Cats: Sprinkle a small amount on toys, scratching posts, or bedding to encourage play and relaxation

• For Humans: Steep 1–2 tsp per 8 oz. of hot water for 5–10 minutes to make a mild herbal tea

• Blend with chamomile or lemon balm for a soothing nighttime infusion

Culinary & Traditional Uses:

• Brewed into gentle herbal teas

• Historically used in wellness tonics

• Popular for creating homemade cat toys, sprays, and treats

Benefits:
Traditionally, catnip has been valued for supporting relaxation and calm in humans. For cats, it can encourage playful activity followed by gentle relaxation.

Fun Fact:
Not all cats respond to catnip—sensitivity is hereditary, and about 30% of cats don’t react to it at all. For those that do, the effect is usually short-lived but delightful to watch!
